The PMP Class Structure

The class is divided into three parts.

  1. Pre – Reads – “Bridge to PMP course”
  2. Within Class – “PMP Class Event over Zoom”

1. PMP Class – Pre- reads

The PMP preparations start when you sign up with us. The pre-read course “Bridge to PMP” is available at our learning management system (LMS) hosted at lms.kavitasharma.net.

The course “Bridge to PMP” will help you get started before joining the sessions. It will help you orient towards the concepts. The PMP style of questions helps ease the anxiety that any normal PMP aspirant goes through.

2. PMP Class – Online Interactions

The PMP online class is a breeze of discussions and enablement. The class has carefully structured case studies that help PMP aspirants relax and understand the concepts. Bit by Bit. The flow is simple and works with all participants from various industries. The breakout sessions with case studies help students to interact and share knowledge. After the breakout, the discussion with Kavita Sharma gives the participants the best way to handle problems and apply concepts.

The information is broken down in an easily understandable format with examples called study capsules. Each theory session/study capsule is revised using the Let’s Play quizzes to help participants assess their knowledge.

3. PMP Class – 21 Days Plan with tests

It has been observed that many PMP aspirants do not follow their PMP dreams because they do not get an implementation plan from their trainers. Nor do the participants feel confident about the subject, and hence they lose focus, do not prepare, and if they do – most of them fail the exam due to a bad understanding of concepts or bad study material questions.

The 21-day PMP plan works because it has daywise quizzes. Each day, you recap one of the topics and attempt that quiz. It will help in 3 things:

The last few days in the 21-day plan are simulations. You can not pass until and unless you can sit for 4 hours and solve 180 questions.

You should know that, nowadays, PMI allows only authorized trainers to allocate the 35 PDUs to students via an authorized ATP.

The PMP certification is a 3-STEP process:

  1. Get 35 PDUs: There are training providers who train you on PMBOK and provide you with the required certificate so that you are eligible for the PMP exam. This cost varies and depends on region and type of training. You can check various training options for PMPs having 35 PDU certificates at kavitasharma.net
  2. The PMI registration cost(Annual): Register with PMI. This will give you access to a much-required standard called PMBOK. The PMI registration process is simple, and you can register at any time. This is an annual membership, and a payment is required. Currently, it is USD 129. Most of the operation Managers are in long-term operations/support projects. However, all operations have upgrades, improvements, and other initiatives. All these initiative which has a start date and end date are considered PROJECTS. So check how many process improvements you did or how many upgrades you/your team performed and take it from there. Ideally, if you have been in operations/support for more than five years, you are ready for the PMP certification.

That’s a great thought. However, in my experience, I’ve found that most people get anxious when they look at PMBOK, as the book is a standard and uses specific terms that are difficult to understand in the first go.

Check for Institutes/Consultants who provide specific information about pre-reads and pay attention to your questions before the workshop.

Studying before the PMP classes is a good idea as it will help you understand the topics in much better depth.

Yes – the RMC book on PMP Preparation by Rita Mulcahy is good. However, other great books can help you understand the topics in a shorter time frame by using scientific methods and help you Pass the PMP exam. Wait for your PMP training provider (Consultant) input before you start the buying spree.

Great. That’s a good start. I will write the steps concisely. Here they are:

  1. Check your PMP eligibility.
  2. Start the search for a good institute/coach to get 35 PDU workshop
  3. Check the horizon, your leave status, work status, etc. Plan and look for a window where you should have at least 2-4 hours daily for PMP preparation.
  4. If this window is within 1-year time frame – Good. If not – there is no hurry. Come back later and start with step 3 again 🙂
  5. Become a PMI member.
  6. Attend a PMP workshop.
  7. Once you attend a PMP workshop, you will get a 35 PDU certificate required to complete the PMP application.
  8. File PMP application, the PMP application, once approved, will be valid for 1 year. That means that you can schedule your exam at any time at any place within 1 year of the PMP application approval date.
  9. Start with the PMP Mock Tests, prepare for the PMP exam, do many tests, and simulate the approx 4-hour, 180-question environment.
  10. Select the exam date for the PMP exam and PASS the Exam
