PgMP class — live online, with application and panel-review guidance from a PMBOK® Guide contributor.
This PgMP class is for experienced project, delivery and operations leaders who already run multi-project work and want the credential that says so. It covers the PgMP performance domains through real-life program case studies, prepares the application that PMI’s panel will review, and provides a structured route to the examination. Schedule and session times are listed above.
Led by Kavita Sharma, PMP®, PgMP® — PMBOK® Guide contributor, 16 years as a practitioner, 10+ years coaching program and project managers.
PgMP eligibility requirements
PMI requires 48 months of project management experience — an active PMP® substitutes for this — plus 48 or 84 months of program management experience depending on education, all within the last 15 years.
| Education | Project management experience | Program management experience |
|---|---|---|
| Four-year degree | 48 months, or an active PMP® | 48 months within the last 15 years |
| Secondary degree | 48 months, or an active PMP® | 84 months within the last 15 years |
PMI assesses the nature of the work, not the job title. Leading related projects towards a shared business outcome is program management experience whether or not the role was called that. How PMI counts the months · Unsure? Send your résumé on WhatsApp for a direct assessment before enrolling.
What the PgMP class covers
Every topic is taught through real-life program case studies, so the standard is applied to real decisions rather than memorised. Assignments between sessions consolidate each stage.
| Topic | Content | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Program versus project management | Where program management differs in scope, accountability and measures of success; locating your own experience within the case studies. | A first draft of your program experience in PMI’s terms. |
| Program life cycle | Phases, stage gates, decisions and program-level responsibilities, worked through the case studies. | A clear map of where each of your past roles sat in the life cycle. |
| Strategy alignment, governance and benefits | The first group of PgMP performance domains, applied to the case studies. | Reasoned answers to domain-level examination questions. |
| Stakeholder engagement, risk, application and panel review | The remaining domains, a full recap, the PgMP application completed step by step, and the finer points of the panel review. | An application ready to submit and a day-by-day examination study plan. |
PgMP timeline — from class to examination
The live sessions are the first stage. The application is submitted after them, PMI’s panel reviews it, and guided study, day-wise questions and timed mock examinations continue through to the examination date. The timeline below sets out each stage and the support provided at each.

PgMP application and panel review
PMI’s panel of certified program managers evaluates the application before examination eligibility is granted. It is the stage at which most PgMP candidates fail. The class addresses it in three steps.
Select the right programs
Your career is reviewed to identify the experiences that meet PMI’s definition of a program — the right ones, not the largest projects.
Write in PMI’s language
Each program summary is drafted in class with direct feedback — strategic alignment, benefits, governance and stakeholder engagement, evidenced in your own words.
Pass the panel review
You learn what the panel scores, the errors that cause applications to be returned, and how to respond if PMI requests further detail.

Who the PgMP class is for
PgMP is not a senior PMP. PMP evidences the ability to deliver a project; PgMP evidences the ability to lead related projects towards a strategic outcome. The class is designed for three profiles.
Project managers moving to program roles
Years of delivery experience and a case for broader accountability. PgMP is the credential that formalises it.
Directors, operations heads and consultants
Responsibility for related projects, teams, budgets and business outcomes under a title that never said “program manager”. That experience qualifies.
PMP® holders
An active PMP® satisfies the project-experience requirement in full; only the program experience remains to be evidenced.

Kavita’s PgMP mentorship gave me the clarity and discipline. Her teaching style makes thing easy and I could relate it to my program and work. I passed PgMP in my first attempt - No PgMP application Audit - No Panel Review Rejection. I would recommend her for any management training. Priya N
When PMI asked for more details for my PgMP Panel Review, I was stuck. It was my final attempt before my application would be closed, and I was incredibly anxious. Kavita stepped in and helped me rewrite the entire application. She gave me a clear template and step-by-step guidance. My application was quickly approved by the panel. Thank you, Kavita
