PMP, PgMP and PMI-PBA need 60 PDUs every three years. PMI-ACP and PMI-RMP need 30. CAPM needs 15. At least 35, 18 and 9 of those must be Education — taught learning — with a minimum in each Talent Triangle area.

Because PMI asks for a minimum in each of three areas, and only one of them comes from running projects.
This is the part most people get wrong. The Talent Triangle minimums sit inside the Education requirement — not spread across the whole 60. For a PMP:
35 of your 60 must be Education. Inside that 35, at least 8 must be Ways of Working, 8 Power Skills and 8 Business Acumen. The other 11 can come from any area. Only the last 25 may be Giving Back — and Giving Back never counts towards the 8-8-8.
PMI-ACP and PMI-RMP work the same way at 4-4-4 inside 18 Education. CAPM is 2-2-2 inside 9.

Delivery, agile, risk, scheduling, using AI on project work. Your day job builds this. Most people have plenty.
Leadership, communication, negotiation, coaching. Rarely taught on the job, and usually the first gap people find.
Business cases, benefits, strategy, finance, governance. The second gap, and the one people find last.
Volunteering will not cover the minimums. Running projects, mentoring and volunteering all count as Giving Back. They cannot fill the Power Skills or the Business Acumen minimum — PMI wants those taught. That is why a registered course is not just the faster route; for those PDUs it is the only one.

Yes. Each course is registered with PMI and carries its own claim code. When you enter the code in CCRS the activity is recognised as a registered course rather than self-directed learning, and the course details fill in for you.
Usually within minutes of entering the claim code in CCRS. You can claim each course as soon as you finish it — you do not have to wait until you have finished the whole bundle.
Power Skills and Business Acumen Education PDUs count towards every PMI certification you hold, and all Ways of Working PDUs count towards the PMP. You enter the same claim code once under each credential. Check your own dashboard, because your two cycles will have different end dates.
Yes. PMI gives you one year of suspension in which to earn and report the missing PDUs. Once they are reported and the renewal fee is paid, your status returns to active. What to do if your certification is suspended.
