How many PDUs does your certification actually require?

A continuing certification cycle runs three years from the date the certification was earned or last renewed. The total PDU requirement depends on which credential you hold.

PMP, PgMP, PfMP and PMI-PBA: 60 PDUs per three-year cycle

PMI-ACP and PMI-RMP: 30 PDUs per three-year cycle, at least 18 of which must be Education

Inside a 60-PDU cycle, at least 35 PDUs must be Education, meaning taught learning. Education has no ceiling, so all 60 PDUs may come from Education if you choose. Giving Back PDUs, which cover activities such as volunteering or creating content, are optional and capped at 25 PDUs.

Within the 35 Education PDUs, a minimum of 8 must sit in each of the three Talent Triangle areas: Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen. That fixes 24 of the 35 PDUs, leaving 11 Education PDUs free to place in whichever area you choose.
